For ITJG, here is a link on Dean Francis : http://www.columbusmusichistory.com/htm ... ers_1.html

"Germany’s Soulciety released two of his funk CD’s, Black As All That (Soulciety 00682) in 1998 and This Groove’s For You (Soulciety 00332) in 1995. This Groove’s For You included a cut that was a shout back the Soul Rockers days titled Got A Funky Disposition."

"Funky disposition" is from 1969.

My Rare Funk special is strictly 45s, because most rare Funk was released on this format and not on LP.

But we usually do play a good amount of albums on our shows.

yes I know! I was just complaining about the fact that most artists who did great stuff on 45s, never released an LP (and not about the fact that you were playing 45s! ). Very frustrating for people who only buy Lps (wouldn't mind buying 45s but I do not want to end up tramping in the street...Lps are already too money consuming!!!)

Well, it's not really the artist's fault either. In the mid- to late 1960s, 45s were the main outlet for music releases. Albums didn't really become the major medium until the early 1970s. Most rare Funk releases were put our by unknown artists on small, independent labels. Very few of them ever made it into the R&B charts, which is why they never got the funds together for recording enough material for an entire album.

I collect both 45s and albums. But I understand that it's tough on money. In Europe you simply cannot dig for records like you can over here in the States. I hardly buy records from Ebay, I just dig in private collections, yard sales and small record stores. Just last week, I bought about 50 45s from a dude's home collection. I spent $100 - and the records I got for that price are listed at Manship for a total of $1,200. You can hardly get that lucky anywhere in Europe, which is why I am buying 45s like crazy since I moved back here.
